Weekly Obsessions: MCM Love Patch, Celine

Celine Vertical Cabas Bag

The bag I have been obsessing over this week is actually part of the men’s collection, but it’s 2019 and stereotypical gender roles are so yesterday. Meet my darling for the day: the Celine Vertical Cabas Bag (THB 62,000), from Celine’s latest Triomphe Canvas Collection. Created by Hedi Slimane back in 2018, I love the modern-feel of what is essentially a throwback design, featuring the brand’s 1972 monogram. The link motif is inspired by the chain that encircles the Paris Arc de Triumph, thereby carrying with it a sweet sense of history and architecture. The shape (and logo!) of the natural cotton weave bag is very much bold and blunt, and I love the little detailing of the golden lock on the handle. It’s classic and yet contemporary, and — why does this feel like a lesser important feat in the face of design — can hold all of my essentials and more too. A great daytime bag; but we always knew Celine reigns supreme on that front. — Lisa Gries, Staff Writer

Keds Crew Kick 75 Sneakers

I’ve often found myself envious of my guy friends’ casual sneakers. They’ve got that classic, easy-going, boyish look the way I wish my own sneakers could have. So what I really love about the new Crew Kick 75 Keds sneakers is that they take these boys’ sneakers but then build it specifically for a woman’s dimensions. The slimmer and more feminine fit means you can get that boyish sporty look and still look like the shoes were made for you. The result is you get a pair of sneakers that are the best of both worlds, pairing wonderfully well with anything from boyfriend jeans to floaty dresses. The Keds Crew Kick 75 sneakers come in leather and various colours too, but, for me, nothing beats the classic white canvas (THB 1850). — Karn Chatikavanij, Style Writer

MANGO Bucket Hat

A girl needs her options. After having worn enough of beanies, berets and baseball hats this month, I need a little something new to give a chic accent to my style. Wanting a fab slash fun style, I pursued a little online shopping and stumbled upon this Bucket Hat (THB 790) by MANGO. The bucket- or fisherman hat naturally has a street vibe spiked with a casual yet cool look that makes it so versatile and fit for any summer or rainy day at the park or bar. Crafted out of cotton fabric with a creamy, soft hue, the hat is as comfortable to wear as it is to fit with many types of outfits. — Kankanit Wichiantanon, Staff Writer

Levi's

Levi’s 724 High-Rise Straight Jeans

Can you ever go wrong in blue jeans and a t-shirt? I want to kick myself for even asking the question. Of course you can’t. And if there’s one brand that stands out loud and proud above the rest in the denim arena, it is most obviously Levi’s. Recently unveiling their Fall/Winter collection in Thailand, I have been crushing hard on these 724 High Rise Straight Jeans (THB 2890) for their effortlessly cool and understated vibe. I love that the ankle is cropped and lightly fringed, making it a prime contender to pair with my weekend sneakers (or even sandals, or even heels?). The options are endless, the shade of the denim is versatile, and the waist is just high enough to be both comfortable and stylish. You can’t fault a classic. Levi’s knows. — LG

MCM Love Patch

MCM Love Patch Leather Pouch

What is it about iron-on patches and stickers that make them so irresistible? For a new special edition collection, MCM have just released the ‘Love Patch’ – a series of leather accessories plastered with colourful love-themed embroidered stickers. They’ve included everything from passport cases to the brand’s iconic Patricia bags, but I’ve currently got my eye on this leather pouch (THB 16,900). The love patches give it a cool old-school vibe – perfect for if you’re heading back to study this September. It’ll also stand out at your work meetings and generally just help you keep your things in order – definitely something I need! — KC
