Everyone goes to the Maldives to do the same typical resort activities. We all see the Maldives as the go-to destination for a romantic getaway or a relaxing escape over pristine blue water. The Standard Huruvalhi Maldives offers far more than that; combine The Standard’s trend-setting reputation for unforgettable experiences with the unmatched beauty of the Maldives and you get a unique blend of social fun and relaxation. The design of the resort differs from all the typical airy beige and white properties in the Maldives. The Standard Huruvalhi is filled with pops of colour and eye-catching patterns, which is what sets this gem of a resort apart from all the rest. After your stay here you will return to your normal life refreshed and invigorated.

“The partnership with Standard is a decision I’m very happy with, I’m a part of the Standard family now” gushes Amir Mansoor, the proud owner of The Standard, Maldives. “The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives is not like any other resort here, it’s made for and by fun loving people” he smiles.
It’s the ideal place for those who want to create beautiful memories away from city life surrounded by crystal blue waters. The island is completely self-sustained and eco-friendly. Amir discovered it in its purest state and developed it from nothing. “We try to recycle as much as we can, sustainability is a core value for me and The Standard family.” Amir feels strongly about sustainability and tries to always choose green alternatives whenever possible. Even the drinking water provided in all the rooms is filtered and bottled right on the island. You also won’t see any plastic straws anywhere at the resort. Read ahead for our list of even more special things you must not miss at The Standard Huruvalhi, Maldives.
1. Sunset Drinks at Beru Bar
This adults only over-water club with a giant 2-meter disco ball has an impressive list of cocktails made with fresh tropical juices. Hold your snazzy cocktail up against the gorgeous sunset backdrop and there you have a very instagrammable shot for the win. We recommend trying the coconut prawns too if you’re feeling like some light munching. You can enjoy dramatic sunsets here and then later sway to Maldivian inspired-beats over the glass-bottomed dance floor and watch the sea creatures below.
2. Scuba diving
Even if you’ve never done it before, the seasoned instructors at the Standard can prepare you with all the basic skills and equipment you need to do an introductory dive. Right in the reef in front of the resort, you’ll find giant turtles, stingrays, sharks and many other colourful fish darting around. You don’t have to travel far from the property to experience superb marine life. The Standard, Maldives is located right between the Raa and Baa atolls, the two atolls that are luckily barely affected by coral bleaching. Scuba diving is surprisingly not at all difficult to learn and there’s no better time to start. You can opt for a private guide and choose to do as many dives as you wish. PADI courses and open water dives are also available upon request. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to dive in this paradise.
3. The Standard Spa
The Standard Spa does not disappoint with treatments such as CBD Honey Facial, CBD body mud & Rock-a-Bye.
The CBD oil’s anti-inflammatory properties sooth your skin while the honey nourishes it with a shock full of minerals and moisture. The CBD Honey Facial is a definite must-try for facial lovers, and includes a hydrating honey mask and jade roller massage, and ends with a quick scalp & foot rub.
After being out in the sun doing all kinds of water activities your body too needs some loving. We suggest the CBD body mud right after an extended period of fun in the sun. This body mud is just what your skin needs to repair itself. The mud is rich in healing and cooling properties that will help undo the sun damage. Your therapist will help you apply a generous amount of the mud mixed with honey onto your skin, and once you rinse off your glow will be restored. Another treatment that you should try is the Rock-a-Bye, a 90-minute rhythmic massage that puts you into deep meditative state using Lomi Lomi, Reiki, and Tai Chi techniques.
4. Wakeboarding & Wind surfing
It goes without saying how unbelievably blue and clear the water is, you can spend your afternoon in the sun speeding over the turquoise water wake boarding or wind surfing. Both activities are no doubt physically challenging but incredibly exhilarating once you get a hang of it. You’re in good hands at the resort, as Farouk, the head water sports instructor or any of the other instructors will be right with you making sure you’re safe. You can opt to wear a life vest if you’re not a strong swimmer as well.
If you’re looking for something less physical, we recommend going on an excursion and exploring what the Maldives have to offer. You have plenty of options such as dolphin spotting, line fishing and snorkelling with turtles and Manta Rays. You can also request a local island tour to experience the local Maldivian culture. These highlights are not necessarily in the sun, so it can be scheduled on days when you think you need a break from the blazing heat.
6. After sun DIY Mud (or ask for a therapist) and Social Hammam Spa Mixer
Social Hammam at the Standard Spa is offered every Sunday. You’re provided with an exfoliating mitt, traditional black soap, and Rhassoul clay. It’s a communal area where you and your friends can all hang out and pamper yourselves. The Hammam area is equipped with a steam room and sauna for you to use as well. This treatment is designed to detoxify your skin and restore its natural balance. You can finish off by leaping into the ocean or have yourself a cold shower to rinse before you’re off exploring again.
7. BBQ dinner on the beach
Leave your shoes and feel the sand beneath your feet at BBQ Shak. Enjoy a traditional Boduberu tribal drum and dance performance with your moonlit dinner on the beach. Here you can choose to enjoy local fresh seafood or imported premium meats grilled over coconut shell charcoal. We recommend getting the flavourful Maldivian chimichurri sauce and a side of roasted Maldivian pumpkin to pair with your protein of choice.
8. Castaway Island
At The Standard Huruvalhi, Maldives, unlike most other Maldivian escapes, you have plenty of socialising opportunities, and it’s quite easy to meet other guests. However, it’s still nice to have the option to do things privately too. Castaway Island is a private island where you can orchestrate a party based on your personal preference. Pretty much anything can be planned here and curated to the very last detail so you and your loved ones can have a memorable personalised activity in the Maldives, away from other guests. If you’re planning a birthday party or a bachelor/bachelorette, Castaway Island would be perfect for that too.
9. Sunrise morning yoga followed by Tonic (adults only swim up bar)
Every morning at 7, guests are welcomed to join the sunrise morning yoga session in the over water studio with ocean view. Start your day on a positive note and set your intentions for the day while getting your blood flowing. You can meet other yoga-loving guests here and of course the view is spectacular.
Then you can grab yourself a rejuvenating drink to jumpstart your system at Tonic. Tonic has a fantastic list of healthy elixirs made with superfoods and medicinal herbs. If you’re in the mood for a little extra something, go ahead and spike your drink of choice. No one will judge. We love the Golden Beauty Elixir, which is a rich coconut cream based drink with fresh activated charcoaled rosemary, infused with turmeric black pepper and mangosteen peel served with some ginger garnish.
10. Aqua Park & Kids zone
The Aqua Park is a fabulous spot for parents, kids and friends alike to play together. You’re never too old for a floating playground right in the ocean. It’s conveniently only a stone’s throw from the pool in front of the resort. You can paddle board, kayak, swim, or wind surf to the floating Aqua Park – it’s your choice. The highlights here are the trampoline and, of course, the water slide.
