Yesterday Chanel revealed that Paris will be the next city to host the yearly Métiers d’art fashion show. While the exact location remains a mystery, the show will take place on December 5, showcasing a fusion of creativity and craftsmanship, witnessing what is going to be Virginie Viard's first footsteps at the throne of Chanel's exceptional artisanal universe.   The Métiers d’art runway show takes place outside the traditional fashion schedule and was first introduced in 2002 by the now late Karl Lagerfeld. Its main focus -- then and now -- is to honour the fine craftsmanship that Chanel’s artisan partners bring to the house’s collections. Each year the fashion house turns to a different location -- Schloss Leopolskron palace in Salzburg, the Cinecitta studios in Rome, and most recently, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York -- to pay tribute to the workshops that provide the house with everything from lace to silver buttons and fine embroidery work.   While the entire fashion industry waits with bated breath for the coming Métiers d'art line, the ready-to-wear Paris-New York 2018/19 collection will be available in boutiques in June(!). Giving us just about enough time to scroll through the gallery to find our grain of gold.
