Hermés ‘Brides de Gala’ scarf 90 in silk twill

Weekly Obsessions

You can’t call yourself an Hermès fan if you don’t recognise the ‘Brides de Gala’ print on this carré. First issued in 1957, this print was created by Hugo Grygkar — the same artist who designed the very first (plus over a hundred prints thereafter) carré for Hermès — and depicts two sets of asymmetrically placed bridles that nod to the house’s equestrian heritage. The design was so popular, it became Hermès’ best-seller of all time. The print gets reissued every season in different iterations, and I really like this year’s version (HK$3,800), which glows in a luminous, multicoloured, halo effect reminiscent of the retro VHS video effects that are making a comeback. —Cindie Chan, Style Editor

Bijoux de Famille ‘Keep Going’ hair pins

Weekly Obsessions

The ’90s hair pin trend is back, and while brands including Chanel and Versace are embracing it with their own designs, street style icons have also been leading the trend by styling their hair with multiple statement pins to achieve extra glam effect. I’ve got my eyes on these crystal-encrusted ones by Bijoux de Famille (HK$2,250 from Lane Crawford) that are not only effortlessly glamorous, but also emblazoned with the words ‘Keep Going’ — a nice bit of quiet encouragement to those around me, especially given Hong Kong’s current political state. —CC

Talika Lipocils Liner

Weekly Obsessions - Talika

Niche French cosmetics brand Talika has always had a firm reputation for its lash and brow care products, with lines also branching out to anti-ageing tools (they even have ski-mask-like contraptions that tout jawline lifting properties using light technology). Recently, the brand has just launched their new cosmetics range, pairing their skincare research with new colour products. I have to say, I’m particularly enjoying the matte eyeliner (HK$228 from K11 Beauty). The super-stiff and perfectly pointed felt tip marker makes for easy cat-eye flicks, but the best thing about it is that it incorporates Talika’s best selling lipocils formula for longer eyelash growth in the long run. It even boasts proven results where study participants gained a length of about 2.8mm over a month. I always forget to apply lash serum even though I do have it at home, so with this two-in-one, I’m looking forward to saving time and gaining naturally long healthy lashes just by applying my everyday makeup. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor

‘Wolf gray’ sacai x Nike LDWaffle

Weekly Obsessions - sacai x nike

Everytime I think I’ve clamped down on my hypebeast tendencies, Nike announces another sacai collaboration. Still, there are worse problems to have. The Japanese couture brand has teamed up with Nike yet again for another stab at the LDV Waffle (approx HK$1,252): a style that originally debuted in May — selling out almost instantly — and featuring a mid-top design inspired by both the LDV and Waffle Daybreak. The new batch is scheduled for a February 2020 release (you can sign up for updates at Solebox) and this time around, will only be available in monochrome colourways. Both the black and ‘wolf gray’ pairs are functionally identical, though the latter are a little easier to love because I find them marginally more wearable. An orthopedic dad shoe that will appeal to oldheads everywhere. —Randy Lai, Staff Writer
