Raffles Hotel on Beach Road has been an icon for much of Singapore’s modern history. Now, that slice of history looks set to be extended as the brand has just announced its second property in Singapore, to be located on Sentosa.

The property will be named Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa Singapore and set to open in early 2022. It will be home to 61 individual villas, spread across 100,000 square metres each with its own private pool and terrace area — a luxury considering hotels are often situated in towering skyscrapers in land scarce Singapore.

“We are proud to announce a second Raffles hotel in the country of its birth,” said Michael Issenberg, Chairman & CEO of Accor Asia Pacific in a press statement. “The Raffles brand is the highest expression of luxurious hospitality in Singapore and we are excited to offer well-travelled connoisseurs a second option to indulge in the famously discreet and attentive Raffles service that has provided an oasis for travellers since 1887.”

This announcement comes ahead of the historic Raffles Hotel’s grand unveiling as the centuries-old property is undergoing a massive facelift. The brand meanwhile is also seeing a fresh slate of developments as it has recently opened in Shenzen, China with Bali, Udaipur and London in the pipeline.

The new property in Singapore meanwhile will be in a beach setting with views of the South China Sea and house a restaurant, a bar, a gym and two meeting rooms along with all the signatures of the Raffles brand including the Raffles Spa and butler service.

“This,” said Issenberg,”will be one of the great hotels of the world.”
